PROJECT 1

Famous People, Familiar Faces – Diagrammatic Abstraction
To investigate and to explore how spaces are created from the making of architectural elements: architectonics -
solid, planes, lines and frames. Upon completion of the project student should be able to achieve a level of
understanding on the works assigned and will be able to apply the idea and concept to their project later.

For this project we are grouped into a team of 6 people and we were randomly given a Master Architects & their masterpiece and my group got 'THE ROSE SIEDLER HOUSE ' by HARRY SIEDLER.  We then have to produce a complete set of architectural drawings (scale of 1:100) of The Rose Siedler House as well as to investigate and formulate our findings into a set of 10 analysis diagrams (on A3 size paper) and 10 diagrammatic models (8 x 8 x 8 cm).

After doing this precedent study project I now a better understanding on basic architectural compositions of solids ,planes ,lines and frames . Not only that I also learned how the architect has a different design process when designing the house.

PROJECT 2

PAVILION

As for this project we are required to understand the concept of simple space planning requirement of a pavilion
(with a maximum volume of 30m3) in relations to the architectural languages from Project 1. We
are also required to conduct simple site analysis of the physical context both at macro and micro
level of the site. For the site analysis we went on a site trip to the Shah Alam Botanical garden and had a one to one experience on the site and understanding the site contexts of it. For this project we work in pairs.

By the end of this project I understood how the site in which the pavilion is built plays an important role on how the form will look like. I also learned the importance of user experience and how to take advantage of the green surrounding without hurting it.

PROJECT 3

WEEKEND LODGING

This project requires us to further explore the idea of the pavilion into a more complex program.
We are required to understand our client’s needs and the spatial requirement (with maximum
area 150m2) of a special lodging and translate them onto architectural program that includes public
and private spaces for relaxing, dining, cooking, washing and etc. Emphasis is given to the
interpretation and synthesis of the user, site and function in architectural design.

On my own, i further develop my project 2 into a Weekend Getaway at National Botanical Garden. A
Weekend Getaway denotes ‘A place where one escapes for relaxation, recreation and vacation for a short period of time.’
This Weekend Getaway must function as habitable architectural spaces to enable the activity associated with living,
dining, showering, cooking, storage and such within the built up space of 150 m2. The relationship between your design
and the context is also important in making the Weekend Getaway unique to its landscape and activity.

By the end of this semester's final project i understand the notions of concepts, program and process in architectural design as well as
understanding of user specific design requirements. I also learned of site specific design and the process of site analysis as different climate affects the building's space, form, and function in architectural design.
